KATH MAGPANTAY
Visual Artist, Storyteller, & Creative

Hey, I’m Kath—a Filipino-Italian artist and creative based in Milan. I grew up surrounded by Italy’s rich artistic landscape, which deeply influenced my creativity. But it wasn’t until the pandemic that I reconnected with painting, rediscovering how much I had to express through art.

I work mainly with acrylics on canvas, but I also explore digital art and mixed media. My work focuses on representation, decolonization, and reclaiming narratives, especially around brown women and the diaspora experience. I draw inspiration from post-impressionism and modern art movements, blending expressive figures with vivid colors that remind me of the Philippines. Art for me is about challenging perspectives and bridging the gap between our past and present.

Alongside my art, I’m pursuing a master’s degree in architecture and urban design. In my free time, I host Paint and Tagay—a cultural paint-and-sip experience here in Milan where we explore Filipino culture through art, food, and drinks.

I’ve exhibited in collective shows in Milan, been featured in the press, and collaborated with non-profits that represent second-generation and immigrant communities. I believe in the power of art to tell stories, shape identities, and bring about change.

Let’s connect—I’d love to share this creative journey with you.
